I was hoping to have a more exciting weekend to write about. We had been looking forward to the weekend for 3 months. In December I had purchased tickets to a Linkin Park concert down in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We saw them here in Denver last September and couldn’t wait to see them again. The closest they were coming this round was New Mexico.

So we figured, what the heck, we’ll make a trip out of it. I purchased box seat tickets, we were to have access to a pre-concert hospitality room, gifts, food, etc. In other words - I paid ALOT for these tickets. Can’t even tell you how excited my son and I were. I am such a concert junkie.

The weekend finally arrived. Dylan had school off Friday so we headed down. Got up Saturday morning, had to make a trip to Trader Joe’s since we don’t have them here (if you’ve been you know what I’m talking about!). Went and saw a few sites and then I decided to start getting ready for the concert. But sat down at the computer really quick first (yes, I took my computer. Had to do some work). I happened to log on to the Linkin Park message boards and was in shock and disbelief to find out the concert had been canceled. Just that day. Chester was unable to sing due to an illness.

I can’t even tell you the immediate feeling we had but I also had to put that aside because I had to think quick - it was 3pm and we were about to get stuck in a hotel in Albuquerque for another night if we didn’t do something fast! Shane quickly went and said something to the front desk who told us we had about 2 minutes if we wanted to get out. It was like an evacuation. Within a span of 30 minutes I; one minute thought we were headed to an incredible concert, found out it was canceled, had all our belongings shoved into our bags and was in our car headed home to Denver in complete silence. Sitting there thinking, “what the hell just happened?”.

So that’s that. We drove all the way to Albuquerque so we could eat at Applebee’s and shop at Trader Joe’s. We really needed that Trader Joe’s wine when we got home is all I can say.

So like I said, I was so hoping for an incredible concert tale to tell but instead this is all I’ve got…..

Canceled concerts suck, especially after traveling for hours.
