I’m a runner - run 4 miles a day. Now today was my day off. Seems appropriate that Wednesday, “hump day” should be my day off from running.
But yesterday was a beautiful day and I was able to run outside. It’s hit and miss this time of year. If it’s too chilly I don’t like to run outside because it burns my lungs and I’m hacking up a storm for an hour after I run. The one annoyance, and it’s a big annoyance, right now is that there seem to be weird gnats along the path I run.
At first I thought is was due to the creek I run along, but I think it’s more because of the grass. God, I hope it’s seasonal because it messes up my breathing as I run. There are swarms and yesterday I had a least one big one up my nose and two that I ingested. The worst part is I can see them coming. They were literally pelting my head as I ran - mind you, these are BIG gnats! It’s impossible to get a good breathing rhythm while running. I am really hoping they go away in the next couple of weeks. That and the idiots who seem to think everyone likes their dogs. I’m contemplating getting a t-shirt to wear when I run that states, “I kick dogs that come after me”. We’ll see how well that would go over.
But the creepy dude……
I did my usual run along the path and had to finish up my distance in the park right by our house. There is a big loop. In the middle is a big grassy area, picnic area and a inline hockey rink.
There was this older guy, shirt off, in the grass doing push ups. He kept moving around to different areas as if to display himself to others in the park.
I’m sorry, I don’t care how buff you are, but at a certain age, if you are in a park that is mostly visited by children, then doing your “workout” with your shirt off is just plain, well…..creepy. Now if he had been, let’s say, mid twenties, I’d not be so critical.
I don’t know. Maybe some think I’m the creepy lady running the same route each day with her tattoos showing….but come on man - put your shirt on! It was just weird. Glad I didn’t have a little kid in the park that day. The whole thing struck me as odd. Hopefully he doesn’t show up as a regular. Now the guys playing hockey in the rink over their lunch hour….that’s a different story.
Just kidding sweetie…..(since I know my hubby will ready this).
