I would like to thank everyone who has visited my site and those who have left their comments! Much
appreciated.
We are getting down to the wire here with just over a week to go until Warped Tour hits Denver. We still have a lot of bands to listen to in order to come up with our list, so we’ll have to just start getting down and dirty and get through some more.
As I’ve always said in our other reviews - previews - whatever you want to call them - take what we say with a grain of salt. This is for us to figure out who we want to see. Comments are appreciated as they give us something to think about. Full list of who is playing at the Warped Tour in Denver is listed here.
Set Your Goals. This is a good punk band. We like them and they will make our list. Fast paced and a lot of energy. Great version of “Message in a Bottle” by the Police. Bet you never thought that could be punk, huh?
Love Equals Death. The fact that this band formed on a Halloween night gets points in our book. To me, Warped Tour means punk, but not so much when you really listen to the variety of bands that are on the tour. That’s fine because there are a lot of different tastes. We just like the punk stuff more and Love Equals Death is punk. They’ve made our list.
A Day to Remember. On their myspace page they are listed as pop punk/hardcore. This is another one of those bands that is really unusual. It’s like there are two singers really. One that has a really great voice and the overall sound of the band is great. But then there is the voice of the growler. I can’t say if it’s the same person or a different person - I imagine a different person since they over lap a bit. Honestly, I would like them if there was no growler. It seems extremely out of place, but that’s just me.
Between the Trees. I love this band. I love the sound - they have a very mature, professional sound. Little more on the pop sound? Yeah, but damn, it would be hard to not like them. I can’t wait to hear how they translate live. Hope they don’t disappoint!
From First to Last. It’s late at night right now and I guess, after listening to Between the Trees and then switching over to these guys may be part of the problem. They are very different. I do listen to more than one song and sit here and right as we listen. So as we are progressing through the list they are getting better. That first song was pretty….well….bad. Definitely getting better. They could make our list depending on the schedule.
The Higher. They are listed on their myspace page as pop/rock/r&b. What a cool sound. I get the r&b part but it’s not what you would expect. We especially liked the first and last song on the myspace. (I really do listen to them all - see!).
Katy Perry. I’ve mentioned in previous “previews” that I’m not a fan of female singers. Good lord - she made me laugh out loud with her lyrics. First off - she has an amazing voice. Her songs are….I don’t even know how to describe them. All I can is - we are there. She’s harsh and that’s what I love. But if you ask me, I won’t admit I like her music…..but you will probably see us at her stage.
Okay, one more tonight.
The Maine. They actually aren’t bad. Go look at their page. They all have the same hairdo. And they are wearing the same clothes! Nice sound. Can’t say it’s stand out. But they have a nice sound and sing well.
We won’t get through all the bands - the list is huge - before Denver’s Warped Tour. Make sure you go check out any I don’t have links to. Check out my other previews as well with all the links. They are all listed in the music category. If you don’t have tickets yet, don’t wait. Click on the big Warped Tour link to the side and find the Warped Tour near you!
