While it seems like what I mostly write about is music and concerts, I do have a regular job I do from home. I do bookkeeping and office work for a local painting and construction company, Travis Painting & Restoration.
We do work on homes that are regular homes, all the way to high end homes in Boulder - one that was even featured in Remodel Magazine. It’s a nice job, working for someone I’ve known for years, who used to be a coach on my son’s ski team. It’s a great example of one connection leading to really good things.
Dylan finally finished the class portion of Driver’s Ed today and we are both so glad. He’s glad because he was tired of getting up and having to go anywhere and the class was boring.
I’m glad because I was tired of having to get up and get him somewhere and then turn around 2 hours later and pick him up. The worst part was the other parents in the parking lot. Having road rage in the parking lot picking up a child from driver’s ed is probably not a good idea. But there are a lot of selfish, “it’s all about me” people who seemed to be filtering through there. The concept of just get in line and wait your turn didn’t compute with many of these mini van moms who were busy talking about what I’m sure was very important matters on their cell phones, while almost running over kids and other cars.
I had a lady honk at me today because I was pulling out and she had to stop short. I looked, she wasn’t there when I started to pull out. Which means she had flown around the corner, in such a hurry because she was late dropping her kid off. It took a lot of restraint not to roll down the window and either yell at her or flip her the bird, because by this time, after 4 weeks of this, I had just about had it. It wouldn’t have been my shining moment in front of all those teenagers, but I KNOW I could have taken her.
