Well, the first week of school is almost at a close. Those first couple of days were nerve racking - for me! I remember high school and how scary it can be. Especially lunch - what if you can’t find someone to sit with!?
He seemed to get into the flow of a new school, new routine quite easily. Those first couple of days were figuring out where to go (he only went to one wrong class), how to get the schedule changed, what bus to get on, etc.
Hopefully he won’t grow up and have those dreams of not being able to remember how to open your locker, or where your class is. I still have those….
So we have settled into the usual now that the newness is over with - the, “How was school? Anything exciting happen?”. With the answer of, “Fine.”And, “No mom - nothing exciting, just the usual routine.”
That will pretty much be the answer every day now for the next 9 months - and yet, every day I will still ask. Because you never know….every once in a while I’ll get a little surprise and hear a really good story! Not to mention, it’s just part of OUR routine. The one time I didn’t ask last year when he came home he asked, “Aren’t you going to ask me if anything exciting happened?”. You just never know!
