So we have a new member of the family and her name is Bridget.  She came with a different name - Gidget, but we hated that name and it was very hard to say/remember when giving her commands.

After about 2 years without a dog, we decided we might be ready again.  With both of us working from home, we definitely had the time to spend with a dog.

So Saturday we went over to the Longmont Humane Society to see what there might be.  The new add on to the Humane Society is so beautiful.  It’s like a Hyatt for animals.

Dylan has always said he wanted a Husky and they actually had two of them - but their info said “no cats” and we found out that was because they had killed cats.  So those choices were out for sure because of Sophie.

The only other dog I was interested in was a collie mix.  She had a green sticker which meant she was as easy and mild mannered as it gets - and apparently they don’t get many of those types of dogs in there.

The reason she had been surrendered (twice to be exact) was because she could jump a 6 ft. fence and the owners got tired of dealing with her.

Well, since we work from home, we thought this was something easy to deal with - and it has been.  We really can’t believe that someone would give up such a wonderful dog in every way because of that issue.  All we can surmise is that they worked a lot and wanted to be able to leave her outside all the time.

She has most definitely made herself at home and Sophie has been adjusting as well as can be expected.  She is slowly venturing out further and further.

Meanwhile she is helping us to get a lot more exercise as she seems to have energy that does not end when you take her for a walk!
