Concert Reviews
I have a bit of a strange taste in music. A little all over the place:
My Chemical Romance - They are amazing in live. We’ve seen them 3 times now. These are pictures from Projekt Revolution 2007:
Update: We just saw them again April 14 at the Fillmore here in Denver. Go check out my review!
Linkin Park - Same thing - gotta see them in concert. Although if you’ll read one of my blogs, you’ll see it can be a bit disappointing as well. Here are pictures from Projekt Revolution 2007:
AFI - Okay, I have a small, small confession to make here. My back tattoo is loosely - and I’ll emphasize loosely - based on some wonderful tree images they had on their website at one time. Their music is poetic. We traveled all the way to San Diego to see them live.
Rise Against - We’ve seen them twice in concert. The first time they opened for My Chemical Romance. It was a dream concert because I love both bands. The second time they headlined at Red Rocks. Can’t get any better than that.
Sum 41 - They opened for Rise Against at Red Rocks, and while I had heard them before on the radio, after seeing them live I was hooked. What a blast.
The Used - I’ll have to admit - a tad disappointing in concert. But love their music.
Three Days Grace - Great music as well, but…..same as The Used in concert. It’s not that they didn’t sound good. I guess it was more of their song choices???? We’ve seen them twice. I’m too embarrassed to admit to what concert we went to the first time when they were the opening band.
Breaking Benjamin - Very good live.
Billy Talent - Now I haven’t seen them live yet, but will in a few weeks and will update this. I’m putting it in here because after going online and listening to some of their music, I bought the two albums and love it. I’m hoping they won’t disappoint when we seen them in concert here soon. They are opening for MCR.
I Hate Kate - We saw them at the 93.3 Big Gig Concert here in Denver last summer. They were a small opening band, but we recognized a song or two from the radio. What I didn’t realize is that they are pretty much big here in Denver and getting ready to go more nation wide. Denver loves them. Their songs are so darn catchy.
We just went and saw them again recently at The Bluebird - go see my post about it. We had a great time! These pictures aren’t great, but the best we got.
Warped Tour - Warped Tour in Denver is held in the parking lot at Invesco Field. It’s a lot of fun. Be prepared for a long day - wear comfortable shoes, bring sunscreen and plan to drink a lot of water. This year it’s June 29. You will be able to find out the list of who will be there ahead of time, but not when they play or what stage they will be playing on until you get there.
So….take a piece of paper and a pencil. When you get there go to the big board, look for the bands you really want to see and write down you plan of attack because keep in mind, bands will be playing on different stages at the same time. There will be about 5 or 6 stages.
We went last year for the first time. It’s great people watching as well. Head over to my concert page for a link to get tickets.
Projekt Revolution - Projekt Revolution is Linkin Park touring with several other bands. There are two stages. The Revolution Stage is generally comprised of smaller, up and coming bands. It’s held in a different section, but earlier in the day - so there are no conflicts. You go and watch the Revolution Stage bands, then there is a bit of a break so people can make their way into the main area. On the Main stage several other bands will play, then Linkin Park will be last.
This year the line up is smaller than last year and there aren’t as many big names, but it still looks to be a fun event. I highly recommend it. We discovered some bands we really liked that we will be seeing when they tour on their own this year.
